Paul Ligas Photography in the West Midlands
I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. My parents gave me my first SLR after I graduated from university. That Minolta SLR lasted me many years, and many miles of travelling in the UK, Europe and Canada. Not wanting to rely on the vagaries of film print companies, I always shot using slide film so that I knew the image I was taking would be the image I would get (unless I was processing my own black and white photographs).
Throughout the years my sister, an artist and art teacher in Ontario, has given me great support, taught me to see the world through an artist’s eyes, and given me honest criticism which has helped make my photography better.
I’m married and my wife gives me great support in my photography work (and everything else!). We own two energetic dogs who help me to live in the moment. I enjoy playing my guitar, watching the Montreal Canadiens play hockey, exploring the countryside and learning. Continuous learning is one of my lifelong projects.
I moved to the UK permanently in the early 1990s and have slowly grown my photography business since then, but especially so since the mid-2000s. I create fine art photographs and work for businesses, charities, bands and individuals, providing unique photography for my clients.
My photography style is naturalistic, using natural light wherever possible. This brings with it a genuine sense of warmth that stands apart from the overly lit, overly edited images that can seem so distant from what we really see. My aim is to bring a fresh perspective to commercial and private photography for small and medium sized businesses with individually tailored, naturalistic and spontaneous images that you can’t find on stock photography websites.
I’m DBS (CRB) checked, and some of my clients include The British Heart Foundation, RGB Group, Waitrose Weekend, Haygrove Limited, Birmingham artists General Public, The Cottage In The Wood Hotel in Malvern, Create IT Group, The HOPE Centre in Bromyard, Exeter Community Initiatives, and the Steampunk band The Mysterious Freakshow. You can keep in touch with me on Twitter or Facebook, and on Instagram or LinkedIn, or use the Contact page to send me a message.
Based in Ledbury, Herefordshire I enjoy working for clients in Hereford, Ledbury, Malvern, Worcester, the West Midlands and across the UK.
