A personal photography project that I’ve had in mind for a few years now and have finally had a good opportunity to begin.
For several years I’ve been thinking of taking photographs of wildflowers during the night: a view that almost no one ever sees. With the urban meadow I’m growing in my backyard I’ve had the chance to have them right outside my back door.
When we think of wildflowers we think of sunny summer days in the meadow or in dappled sunlight in the woods, but flowers, like everything on earth, spend some of their time in the dark, at night.
This is what they look like when they sleep.
View the entire Portraits of wildflowers at night series. I hope to add to it as the seasons, and the flowers, change.
